summer days

Author: angiem, 07 23rd, 2012

No matter how busy I am throughout the year, I always make time to slow down in the summer. I make time to pamper myself and those I love. I make time to relax. To laugh. I make time to be present in the daily moments of wonder, of gratitude and of beauty.

So here’s my recipe for a magical summer:

Daily one-on-one time with my sweetie. Yup. I KNOW he’s gorgeous.

Eating well. Summer is my favorite food season. Oops, second favorite. Winter’s first;

Long talks with my BB’s - beautiful brilliant - children. Far into the night;

Creating. Playing. Relaxing;

Ice cream dates. Every day. Why not?

Get-togethers with friends. The conversations, the laughter, the ease of being with people who love me and don’t judge.

Reading. Reading. And more reading. Inside. Outside. On a blanket at the beach. On a blanket in a field. Anywhere. Anytime.

How about you? What are your recipes for a great summer?

    Love all your pictures and you covered my summer too. I would just need to add the beach. A must! :O)

  2. Ruth Says:

    I love summer, too. It’s really my favorite. I love the warm mornings and long warm evenings. The visits to the beach. The abundant fruit. Long days. Reading under the shade. My list of summer loving is too long and I have to get to work. I miss summer breaks!

    Oh Angie, this is perfect, it really is. I feel like I should take notes:).

    on this side in nyc, so many are preoccupied with being “busy new yorkers’” that they don’t realise that the abundance in life are the sweetest things like time with the ones we love, good food and doing something we love like, you mentioned, reading.

    to keep away the loneliness on this side I like to write and create stories, go on long walks, pop in on bookstores, picnics… and blogging is nice too.

    thanks so much for your beautiful presence!!

    Diane, you’re right! I forgot the beach, although I do prefer it when it’s temperamental.

    Ruth, yes!

    Ms. Moon, one day you’ll look back and remember it as great.

    Ava, well the truth is I like some more than others. My favorite is a tie between Imperfect Birds by Anne Lamott and The Chronology of Water by Lidia Yuknavitch. I love the way these two women write.

    Stephanie, thank you! That is so sweet. :)

    Thanks, Jena. And boy, do I know what you mean!

    Char, I love that your two things really don’t cost a thing.

    Audrey, missed you! Wish I was in NYC to pop into one of those bookstores with you, and then have coffee in a cosy little spot.

    Definitely reading! Water, sun, late nights. :-) Sleeping in!

    Lovely pics, Angie. :-)

    Good for you making time for love ones. I wish I could come over :). We’ve been enjoying Summer here too, but Spring was the best because Martin was off the whole semester. We had time for a beautiful trip and a DIY home wedding. Married life is bliss.

    You’ve pretty much nailed it, Angie. I’d only add fresh peaches and corn! And maybe a movie or two. Moonrise Kingdom was wonderful! And you might enjoy the book I recently finished…. The Land of Decoration, by Grace Macleen. Very good one! xo, pamela

  13. Victoria Says:

    Hi Angie.
    Looks like a lovely list of summer fun.
    Icecream, beach, pool, every possible meal outdoors, chilled wine, tanned feet and pretty painted toes, swimming and more swimming, lazy mornings with the kids and no rushing out the house!
    I’ll email you about setting up that coffee date - looking forward to it.

  14. Relyn Says:
